80′s Rock Girl Costume

Today it is mostly known as Goth, and even back in the 80′s the definition of this style meant that one wouldn’t bow down to the expectations of the society. It is an expression of ‘I’ll freely express who I am, without minding what others will tell me.’

If you are that kind of person, this would be the perfect costume for you. That is, if you’re not wearing it on a daily basis.

You’ll need a lot of black here. First off, start choosing the hairstyle. For girls with short hair, who says only guys could spike it up? Prepare a hairspray and start fixing your hair with the “electrocuted” look. If you want you can highlight the spikes with purple or red. For girls with long hair, do it the 80′s way. Use a perming iron, do lots of backcombing and make it big.

Choose a black band t-shirt with awesome prints, this one could be easily bought anywhere. Pair this with a black leather skirt and torn fishnets or leggings designed with stripes like those you see in The Addams Family. For the shoes, look for black lace up boots with very thick soles or get black combat boots.

Accessories play a big role here. You could get fake nose rings, or studs to glue on the face temporarily, and magnet earrings so you will have more than one. Get chokers made from leather preferably lined with studs or if you are really digging the style, ones that are lined with spikes. Get black leather bracelets too that will match with the chokers.

For the make-up, powder up until your face becomes really pale. Then drown your eyes with black eyeliners and eye-shadows. Make it really smoky, so that it stands out, making you glare. And since this costume is under the 80′s, add color through a very bright red matte lipstick.

There, you are all set. If you could play an electric guitar, bring it and rock all night long!
