Learn English Alphabets the Cool Way Through “Alphabet Song”

Toddlers are attracted greatly towards songs and colorful videos. Learning could be made fun using these aids as children grasp the message efficiently from these utilities unlike using books or boards. Teaching alphabets are not an exception and kids learn the ABC’s effortlessly through a variety of alphabet songs on hand.

The alphabet song was first patented by Charles Bradlee in 1985 and it was composed using a piano. The tune for this song was the same as the popular rhyme twinkle twinkle little star and baa baa black sheep. The fascinating fact is that this tune was composed by Mozart when he was 25 years old.

There are many popular versions of the English song in the US, UK and many other countries. With UK and US the song is the same, apart from the “z” pronunciation and the “lmnop” lyric is repeated twice in the UK variant.

The lyric of the English alphabet song is as follows

a-b-c-d-e-f-g
h-i-j-k-lmnop
q-r-s-t-u-v
w-x-y and z
Now I know my ABC’s

Next time won’t you sing with me?

The alphabet song is as well taught using phonetic sounds. Another admired alphabet song is where each letter stands for something like A for Apple, B for Boy etc. There is also a “backward variant” available in which the alphabets are sung in the reverse order as the name implies.

Parents and teachers should find ways and methods of teaching that catch the attention of kids. Probably they can sing the song together with the child. At first you might think that the kid is not at all listening or joining you while singing but sooner or later they will learn the alphabets well than you could imagine.

You can download almost every version of the alphabet song for free from a number of websites in the form of MP3, video, and karaoke which makes alphabet learning an enjoyable activity.
